Since 2005, Tandez Academy has been the leader in
street self-defense training in Mountain View and the San Francisco Bay Area. We offer small group classes, personal training and seminars. Our program is based on the five best fighting arts:
BRUCE LEE'S JEET KUNE DO
Bruce Lee's highly functional and efficient no-rules self-defense system, that is a blend of 26 different arts from around the world (Boxing, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Savate, Judo, Jujitsu, Wrestling, Kali and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and trains you in the four ranges of combat: Kicking, Punching, Trapping (Close-Quarters) and Ground Fighting.
FILIPINO KALI ESCRIMA
Kali is the weapons-based martial arts from the Philippines. If you're attacked with a hand-held weapon (Knife, Gun, Impact Weapon), Kali will train you in how to disarm the weapon immediately and end the fight. Master the use of practical, everyday objects, like Sticks, Blades, and Knives and turn them into defensive weapons.
Silat are the fighting arts from Indonesia, Malaysia and Southern Philippines that specialize in throws, sweeps, and takedowns. Silat techniques will off-balance an attacker using punches, headbutts, knees, elbows, eye jabs, groin hits and dirty tactics.
Silat trains in the use of the Karambit (Curved Blade) and the Fighting Sarong.
Muay Thai is a powerful combat sport from Thailand that utilizes punches, kicks, elbows and knees, and is known for its power, explosiveness and toughness. This is one of the best conditioning exercises, since it will challenge your stamina, cardio, and power.
Wing Chun is a fighting art from Southern China, made famous in Hong Kong by Bruce Lee and Yip Man, his teacher. Wing Chun specializes in close-quarters combat and is able to create effective power hitting from a very close range.
